Drought Resilience +10, WMO, Geneva
Drought Resilience +10 is a major event hosted by the World Meteorological Organisation at their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in partnership with several UN agencies, World Bank, European Union, National Governments, Humanitarian agencies and others. The event is held just over 10 years after the 2013 High Level Meeting on Drought Management Policy, which set the foundation for adoption of drought management planning and actions by governments worldwide. The objective of the event is to is bring policy makers, practitioners and scientists from the whole world together to review progress and lessons learnt, and to explore ways forward towards a drought-resilient world.
Several members from the I-CISK team will be active at this key event. The team is actively working together with the Drought in Anthropocene group of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences to coordinate a poster session running throughout the conference to connect policy makers and scientists. Key results and insights from the I-CISK project will be presented during this session. Additionally, members from the team will engage actively as invited members to panel discussions during the main sessions. Additionally, a two day follow up meeting will be held by the Drought in the Anthropocene team to derive key messages from this major event to inform engaged research.
A special side event is co-organised by CEH Wallingford, UNCCD, University of California and ETH Zürich, I-CISK and IHE-Delft. Please look out for posts after the event on the outcomes of discussions held.
