Presenting the New Climate Services and Tools for the Island of Crete, developed under the I-CISK project – A closing event workshop
In October 2025, a closing event workshop took place at Rethymno, Crete, co-organised by EMVIS and the Organisation for the Development of Crete (OAK, MAP member), hosted by the Technical Chamber of Greece– Rethymno Department.

The workshop was attended by MAP members as well as local stakeholders (Mayor of Rethymno, the Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection, the Executive Advisor for Civil Protection of the Regional Unit of Rethymno, the President of the Prefectural Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Vice President of the Administrative Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Vice President of the Rethymno Hoteliers Association).
Attendees had the chance to go through the new Climate Services and Tools, which were developed for the island of Crete under the I-CISK project, while OAK shared its one-year experience with the service. The workshop focused on the potential which is shaped by this new generation of services and hosted extended discussions over sustainability and transferability aspects. Further, it was an important opportunity for the exchange of know-how between research bodies, public organisations, and market representatives, confirming the need for closer cooperation to support the adaptation of Crete to new climate challenges.
