Transforming Climate Data into Action: I-CISK Takes the Stage at ECCA 2025
The I-CISK project was proud to be part of the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2025), held in Rimini, Italy from 16–18 June, where we co-organised a high-level scientific session together with our sister projects LOCALISED, ReachOut, and RethinkAction.

Our joint session, “Cross-sectoral and multi-scale climate services – upscaling of mitigation and adaptation actions”, attracted over 100 participants and showcased the main scientific findings, tools, and platforms developed to support climate adaptation and mitigation efforts across Europe and Africa. The session highlighted both what works in the field and where gaps remain — particularly in ensuring the long-term sustainability and adoption of technology and innovations.
Representing I-CISK, Dr. Nuria Hernandez-Mora (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) served as one of the key panelists. She presented the project’s co-creation framework and experiences from our seven Living Labs in Europe and Africa, where local stakeholders have played a central role in shaping demand-driven climate services tailored to their unique needs and contexts. The presentation emphasized the value of participatory approaches in generating relevant, actionable, and trusted climate information.
The session, chaired by Jürgen Kropp (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), featured additional insights from:
- Efren Feliu (Tecnalia)
- Sara Barilari (CARTIF Technology Centre)
- Dr. Bernd Hezel (Climate Media Factory)
A vibrant and interactive Q&A session took up more than half of the session time, sparking thoughtful dialogue around the importance of co-creation, the role of local and traditional knowledge, and the challenge of sustaining and scaling climate data and services after project lifespans.
Later that day, I-CISK also took part in the Special Brokerage Event, which created space for informal exchange and matchmaking between researchers, policy actors, practitioners, and funders about concrete tools for transforming climate information into action. It was an excellent opportunity to explore synergies and future collaborations across projects and sectors.
Throughout the conference, we also welcome visitors to our joint exhibition booth, where we present the I-CISK project, share insights from our Living Labs, and distribute our latest policy briefs and publications.
In addition, we introduce our cutting-edge Agentic AI Climate Service Generator — an innovative tool that empowers users to access any climate-related information and generate tailored climate services through a natural language model interface. This solution represents an important step forward in making climate data more accessible, interactive, and user-driven.
